Mike Lowell

It seems the Red Sox aren't immune to the injury bug either. The Sox have just placed veteran Mike Lowell on the 15Day DL with a strained left oblique muscle. This is an injury you need to monitor very closely because an injury of this calibre can turn into a problem that might linger and keep him out of the lineup for 3-4 weeks.

If you are an owner make sure to monitor his status and if something happens where he won't be coming back for 3-6 weeks, it is wise to drop him and find a replacement if you need room on your roster.

Lowell

Mike Lowell of the Red Sox is quietly putting together a nice season after a stint on the DL. Currently, Lowell in his past 10 games is showing owners who stuck with him why it was the right choice.

15H's, 8R, 4HR, 13RBI's, and has raised his average by 32 points and now stands at .282.

Owners, don't expect Lowell to repeat his career year in 2007 (.334, 21HR's, 120RBI) but he is still a valuable contributor in all fantasy formats. Enjoy his services at 3B.

DL Stints

R. Soriano, the closer for the Braves, has found himself a spot on the DL and this is not a good sign especially with his history of injuries. Owners need to go out and grab some alternatives from the Braves, look to Boyer and Moylan.

M. Lowell of the Red Sox had a great 2007 season but after signing a nice contract with the Red Sox is finding a spot in the trainers table with a thumb injury. This won't help his cause at the plate. Owners who drafted him should be hurting and also expect Lowell to come down to earth after batting .324, which was the only year in his career he has ever hit over .300.
