Notes

Emilio Bonifacio - Adds to his to steals total. Now has 4 steals for the young year. Steals is a category in fantasy and this guy is someone you should throw into you OF or UTIL spot. Ride the hot hand and see what it can give you.

Closers - I preach grabbing a solid closer or two in the draft early so you can make sure you don't have to worry about saves throughout the year. Here is my proof. What did the elite guys do when during the first couple of days. Check out Nathan, F-Rod, Papelbon, Lidge, and Broxton do? Exactly, if you didn't grab an elite closer or two, it'll come back and haunt you through hours of looking up saves and monitoring closers.

Jeter - Looks fine in the lead off position so far. Hope it continues. He even gave you a stolen base and a home run. Not too shabby.

Koji Uehara - Threw 5 innings against the Yanks and only allowed 1ER. Very solid start to his MLB career. This is a decent option for a 4th starter in mixed leagues. I'm not too high on him though. If he has a few good quality starts, try and find a Japanese loving fantasy owner and deal him off.

Brandon Lyon - If you have him as a closer well that sucks. Make sure to have Zumaya on your DL because he is going to return and be the closer. Lyon is terrible. Simple as that.

Jeter

Jeter of the Yankees is finally running and stealing bags with his 3rd SB of the year (3rd in his past 10 games). With Jeter's fantasy value diminishing every year this is a great chance to sell high on this guy because of his brand name value. Grabbing a high profile pitcher or closer to help in pitching stats is a great way of getting value in return for Jeter. If you are in a keeper league, try to unload this guy for a younger more reliable player. Package a deal and try to grab the other young players out there that are first round material.

Jeter

Jeter of the Yankees left the game after being hit on the left hand by a pitch from D. Cabrera. So far, X-Rays were negative and he is currently day-to-day with a bruised left hand.

Owners, don't be worried. He'll be back in the lineup soon enough.

Thieves

Ichiro is having a modest season in his standards batting a measly .280 but the stat that really jumps out at you should be his 20SB's. With Ichiro running rabid on the base paths owners can feel a little more comfortable with the low batting average. I would be a little worried if his average does not increase because owners drafted Ichiro because of his .330+ average. Owners shouldn't be worried right now because as we all know, Ichiro is capable of batting .390 in any 4 week span.

Moving onto another high profile player, Derek Jeter of the Yankees has finally stolen his first base of the year. This is great news for Jeter owners because at the moment, Jeter isn't providing much to the stat categories. Just hope Jeter starts to being more aggressive on the base paths.

Jeter

Mr. Clutch is out with a quad injury and will be watching games from the bench for the next 3 games. Owners should be worried only if he doesn't come back after 3 games. Also, watch his SB attempts. If he isn't even attempting to run then his quad is hurting him.

Owners who drafted him expected him to play 155-162 games a year. This is not a great sign since leg injuries seem to linger throughout the season.

My Man Jeter

One of the staples to all my fantasy teams, Derek Jeter of the Yankees, left the game with a quad injury. He initially injured it on Sunday but decided to play yesterday. Well he's hurt and knowing Jeter, he'll play through the pain. Owners shouldn't worry just yet. Until he's on the DL he'll still put up the typical Jeter season, .310AVG, 200H, 10-12HR, 15-20SB.
