Emilio Bonifacio - Adds to his to steals total. Now has 4 steals for the young year. Steals is a category in fantasy and this guy is someone you should throw into you OF or UTIL spot. Ride the hot hand and see what it can give you.

Closers - I preach grabbing a solid closer or two in the draft early so you can make sure you don't have to worry about saves throughout the year. Here is my proof. What did the elite guys do when during the first couple of days. Check out Nathan, F-Rod, Papelbon, Lidge, and Broxton do? Exactly, if you didn't grab an elite closer or two, it'll come back and haunt you through hours of looking up saves and monitoring closers.

Jeter - Looks fine in the lead off position so far. Hope it continues. He even gave you a stolen base and a home run. Not too shabby.

Koji Uehara - Threw 5 innings against the Yanks and only allowed 1ER. Very solid start to his MLB career. This is a decent option for a 4th starter in mixed leagues. I'm not too high on him though. If he has a few good quality starts, try and find a Japanese loving fantasy owner and deal him off.

Brandon Lyon - If you have him as a closer well that sucks. Make sure to have Zumaya on your DL because he is going to return and be the closer. Lyon is terrible. Simple as that.

Saito

The Dodgers closer for the past few years, Takashi Saito, is now a free agent. This is great news for Broxton who seems to be the newly cemented closer for the Dodgers. Reports are Saito and the Dodgers may still come to terms over a contract but I don't think this is going to affect Broxton. He is the new closer in Dodgers land even if Saito comes back.

Broxton just took a huge boost in draft value. High K/9 rate and saves adds very great to any lineup.

Saito

It seems that the aging Saito of the Dodgers is showing some holes, albeit small ones, in his pitching. Saito has blown a save and earned a loss in his past 3 outings. This is not big news since it wasn't anything huge like 5ER's in one inning but owners should still have Broxton as insurance. Broxton and Saito as a combo provides help in all pitching categories.

Scherzer

Max Scherzer of the Diamondbacks was put into the bullpen after Doug Davis returned from Thyroid Cancer. The hard throwing right hander, who was picked up on waivers, is a guy you still want on your team. His ability to throw heat and strike people out is comparable to J. Broxton of the Dodgers. Max will lower your ERA, WHIP, and increase your K's. Working out of the bullpen might actually increase his K numbers considerably. When he comes out of the bullpen he can focus on just throwing heat over an inning or two but as a start he must keep batters off balance over 5-7 innings.

In conclusion, if Scherzer is out there on the wire go grab him, he deserves a spot on all rosters. In a given week, Max can throw 4-6 innings in relief with 12-15 K's, is that something you'd be interested in? *Entourage line.

Category Attack

During the long fantasy season there are plenty of stats out there that any owner can grab from the wire. The strategy I always use in every fantasy league is to attack certain categories throughout the year.

Attacking a category is when you find players from the waiver wire and put them into your lineup just to increase a specific stat. For example, grabbing Jonathan Broxton and putting him into your lineup to attack your ERA, WHIP, and K's for a few weeks is great. He will give you a boost in those categories and if you need to address another problem you can always drop him and grab another player.

My plan is to do this throughout the season looking at where I need to accumulate stats and then I go out and grab certain players off the waiver wire. The best time to do this is on Monday and Thursday. These two days are when major league teams travel and the schedule is light. If you pick up guys who steal on Monday and Thursday you can easily add 10-15 steals for the year.

If you have a few players on your roster that you aren't afraid to put on the wire you can grab a few players and boost specific categories throughout the year.

Max Scherzer

The price of admission, a 1st waiver priority pick, for Max Scherver of the Diamondbacks seems to have paid off with him impressing everyone with his debut.

The line of 4.1IP with 7K's is what fantasy owners dream about and drool over. If you are in need of strikeouts or just hopeful of him moving into a SP's role this is the guy for you. This pitcher has dominated in his minor league career and is ready for the major leagues.

If you want to compare Scherzer with anyone J. Broxton of the Dodgers is a perfect match. Blazing fastball and the ability to strikeout the side every time he hits the mound.

Max Scherzer

Max Scherzer of the Arizona Diamondbacks was called up from AAA Tucsan.

OWNERS - This is a guy you want with your 1st waiver priority. With 144K's in 113.2IP he's just another J. Broxton. Grab him before someone else does.
